Takkt hit in third quarter - Germany

B2B mail order company for office, business and warehouse equipment Takkt has reported that sales continued to feel the negative effects of the global economic crisis in the third quarter of the year.

Takkt recorded a 22.5 percent drop in turnover to €186.6 million, but was able to keep its operational profitability in double digits, with an EBITDA margin of 10.1 percent.

The group’s main response to lower demand has been the launch of the ‘Focus’ and ‘Growth’ programmes, which are designed to optimise the allocation of resources within the group and promote growth initiatives.

One of the most significant Focus measures is the decision to close down Topdeq’s US-based design-oriented office equipment activities by 31 December 2009. The business has been unable to live up to the long-term business volume and response rate expectations since it was established in 2000.
