Following the suspension of Steelcase redundancy plans concerning its Marlenhein plant by the French court, the office furniture manufacturer has announced that a simplified procedure will be launched this week to be carried out by the end of July.
The moves comes after agreement was reached with staff representatives concerning the closure procedures of the factory in Marlenheim, Bas-Rhin, which has 202 employees.
Staff made redundant will receive an additional 27,000 euro severance pay unconditional of age and seniority and factory closure compensation of 20,000 euro. Steelcase promises external redeployment measures for affected staff.
