With 12 of Japan’s 46 prefectures affected by the earthquake and tsunami, Japan’s stationery production will be significantly affected, says Makoto Fukuchi, President of The Stationery & Business Machines magazine in Japan, a member of ISPA.
The production of stationery goods in Japan for 2010 is estimated at about USD 17.7, with office machines at around USD 35.3 billion. Makoto Fukuchi says that approximately 20% of production is from the areas affected by the disaster. He adds that around 40% of the 2,000 stationery stores in the region might have ‘disappeared’.
However, despite the crisis in Japan, event organisers Reed Exhibitions Japan say that trade show ISOT 2011 will still take place in Tokyo, July 6th to 8th.
