DS Smith PLC, parent company of European wholesaler Spicers, has released a trading update ahead of its end of year results. The company says that "action taken by the strengthened UK management team is improving the sales mix, raising service levels and lowering costs". To further reduce costs, Spicers is planning to close one of its depots near London. Performance of its European businesses was described as "satisfactory".
