Japanese printer manufacturer Ricoh plans to build a 10 billion Yen (€63.5 million) plant in Thailand. The new plant will produce laser printers and MFPs and will add to the company’s Asian manufacturing network.
The new plant will become a production hub in the Asean region based on the CEPEA (Comprehensive Economic Partnership in East Asia) concept. Producing in Thailand is also a protection against over dependence on China and helps strengthen Ricoh’s customer relationships throughout the Asean region.
The 121,000 sq meter plant is set to open for operations in September 2009 and will eventually produce 140,000 units per month.
