This growth was sustained by extending the range of the group’s sales to cover more than 100 countries around the world, reinforcing its position as one of the main Portuguese players on the international markets. On a comparable basis (i.e. excluding the new mill), paper sales were up by 5.9% over 2008.

The financial year of 2009 was marked by the start-up of the New Paper Mill in Setúbal which, with annual production capacity of 500 thousand tons has increased the Portucel Group’s total capacity to 1,550 thousand tons/year, positioning it as Europe’s largest producer of UWF office paper.
