Metsä Board (formerly M-Real) has announced that it will raise prices for all uncoated paper by 6 to 8% across Europe to preserve the viability of its future activities. This increase will take effect on deliveries from September 2012.
The move comes as paper manufacturers continue to see their margins erode because of increasing raw material costs. The price of pulp, a key raw material in paper manufacturing, is rising, while other associated costs remain very high.
Guffogg Simon, Marketing Director, Metsä Board, said that Metsä Board recognies that everyone finds the current economic situation difficult, but the price increase is vital to its business.
