Metro Cash & Carry has opened an online store in Romania under the name Metro Office Direct, offering over 4,500 products including office items, cleaning products, furniture, electronics, IT and home appliances.
 

It is the first time a supermarket chain in Romania is offering such products, according to the Romanian Times.
 

Marc Carena, Director Clients Management Metro Cash & Carry Romania, said in a statement: "The market in Romania needed such a service and we are sure this initiative will prove successful."
 

In Romania, Metro has 32 stores, the first opened in 1996, and the group had sales of over 1.25 billion Euros in 2010, according to reports.
