Mead's OP sales and profits up - USA
MeadWestvaco's Consumer and Office Products segment posted a second quarter profit of $24 million on sales of $267 million.
The company said that an enhanced product mix from the company's focus on proprietary brands and products and improved manufacturing productivity more than offset lower volumes and higher costs for raw materials.
Mead's Five Star® consumer products line experienced a solid start to the back to school season, said the company, though this segment continues to be impacted by Asian-based imported products.
