A court in Aubenas has accepted the offer of German company Mayer Kuvert for the takeover of French envelope manufacturer GPV. Mayer Kuvert’s bid was preferred to that of the Spanish group Tompla.
The Mayer-Kuvert plan provides for the elimination of 228 jobs out of 586 that make up GPV's business and the closure of production in Davézieux, Ardèche. Production activities will be grouped in Roanne in the Loire and Saint-Amarin, Haut-Rhin, where the German group is committed to maintaining employment until the end of 2012.
In its new configuration, GPV expects to achieve annual sales of 52 million euros for a production of 2.5 billion envelopes. The Mayer-Kuvert group achieved a turnover of 320 million euros in 2010 and employs 2,100 people in fifteen facilities.
