Herlitz sales fall after restructuring - Germany

Sales revenues at Herlitz decreased by 25.5 million euros to 233.8 million euros in 2011, compared to the previous year. The company said that the drop was primarily the result of structural changes, in particular the reduction of the soft plastic portfolio.

 

In addition, Herlitz deliberately refrained from conducting low-margin business in the stationery field. The negative development of the B2B market also led to sales revenues losses.

 

Herlitz added that efforts with regards to the implemented brand strategy for its products with differentiating characteristics had a positive effect on sales revenues. This increased the percentage of branded products in the Group with the main item being Herlitz my.pen - one of the most-sold school fountain pens in Germany.

 

Sales revenues at international subsidiaries also stabilized after the economic and financial crisis.
