Hardcopy print volumes down 1% in Europe - World

Worldwide page volume from digital hardcopy devices rose to 3.1tn in 2010, but declined 1% year-on-year in Western Europe, according to International Data Corporation (IDC).

In its report 'Worldwide Page Volume and Vendor Share Program’, IDC said that developing regions led to the rise in volumes with 7.3% page growth when compared to page volume in 2009. Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa (CEMA) saw page volume increase by more than 14%.

IDC CEMA research director, Imaging & Hardcopy Devices Research and Document Solutions Ilona Stankeova said in total, almost 3bn pages were printed every day in EMEA, adding: "If we lay down the pages printed daily in EMEA one after another, they would reach the moon and back, or cover an area of 18 soccer pitches every minute."
