If dealing with an economic crisis wasn’t challenging enough, European business is now facing the demands of the FIFA World Cup. 19% of French workers plan to watch matches at work according to the latest survey by Monster. This figure goes up to 25% for the British and 27% for Spanish and Italians.
Some companies are making room in their boardrooms for staff to follow the games together on big screens, whilst others are allowing employees to watch online from their office desks.
In the UK, trade unions are in favour of letting staff watch the games at work as they believe it would otherwise lead to staff absence in form of holidays or faked sickness. However, experts also warn that employees could risk crashing their work systems by tuning into live streams.
