Canon has filed plans to build its new Americas headquarters in Long Island, New York. The five-story building will cover 6,400 square metres and is situated on a former 52-acre (21 hectare) pumkin farm.
The buildings will be constructed using energy efficient materials and the design maximizes the use of natural light. Canon aims to achieve at least silver status from the U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design programme.
"This is an exciting milestone in our efforts to build a state-of-the-art headquarters facility that will serve as a model of an environmentally responsible development project, and will enable us to expand our operations," says Joe Adachi, president and CEO of Canon USA.
