French manufacturer Bic is set to launch a mobile telephone in partnership with Orange. According to a report in the French newspaper Les Echos, the phone will cost 49 euros and will include one hour of communication and a full battery. The phone will be marketed as ‘ready to go’ and sold through newsagents and supermarkets.
According to the newspaper, Bic and Orange want to avoid the phone being labeled disposable. Orange hopes the new phone will open doors to new markets such as older people and those with financial problems.
